Mr. Jigar Thakar would certainly say so !

Being an alumnus of WLC College India – Mumbai Campus, he was located in the financial capital of India. Hailing from an engineering background, Thakar always had the business sense to recognize an opportunity. 

During his post graduate course in Business Management through the years 2004 – 06, he had plenty of occasions to show off his talents. He joined Kotak Securities as a trainee and started attaining on the job exposure.

At WLCI College, our motto is to create industry ready professionals who can dive into any industry without a doubt on mind. That is, we not only provide our students with the text book jargon but also give them chances to practice what they learn.

During his learning days at WLCI, Jigar worked with Kotak Securities as well as with Man Financials. He devoted a year in each organization and rendered the working of 2 different corporations. From being a Sales and Marketing Executive, when he completed his studies, Jigar went on to be appointed as the Associate Vice President for Religare Securities.

After spending a good time of 4 years and 5 months at Religare, Jigar has moved on to Sapphire Land Development Pvt. Ltd. which is a part of HDIL Group of Companies. Currently employed as the Vice President for Investor Relations, he is doing us proud !

Is WLCI offering Typography

Yes, WLCI College teaches its student’s the art of Typography !

The technique of arranging ‘Type’ or words to create a language that is appealing to read, is known as Typography. This art is used by various graphic designers, typesetters comic book artists, graffiti artists etc. WLCI School of Design engages the students to practice this art in order to broaden their career path.

With Digitization picking up, this avenue of design has gained demand. Typography, in general, is a broad concept that covers all aspects of designing using letters. It can be done mechanically using various print machines and software’s or manually using the art form of calligraphy.

Advertising is another profession where the use of this art is treasured. Being used in various promotional materials, it can set a firm apart from its competitors. At WLCI School of Advertising and Graphic Design, this module is highly valued.

In the image below, you can see the use of Primitive and Microcosms. Although, the latter is a part of the former, you can see how they can appear different to the untrained eye. In this case, the road signs are the primitive of which the microcosms have been derived.

U, Me and Nature Workshop by WLCI Delhi

The Earth has Music for those who listen!

As the saying goes, nature always rejuvenates and replenishes you, the closer you get to nature, more invigorated you get. Keeping that in mind WLCI Delhi Campus has put together a workshop with U, Me and Nature theme for its students. The workshop has been designed with earthy tones and craft in mind.

You can have a fun Saturday evening from 4.00 to 7.30 pm, on the 28^th of June, by dabbling in various mediums of art and design. Among the fun activities lined up for the students and even their accompanying parents are the following:

·        Graffiti Painting: You can get creative with colors and spill your imagination on the T-Shirts! You get a chance to participate in the Graffiti workshop and acquire a taste of the pop-culture.  

·        T-Shirt Macramé: Learn the age-old sailor’s craft of Macramé and embellish the T-Shirts with knots.

·        Color Your Scarf:  Use the popular form of stenciling or ‘Screen Printing’ to give a make-over to the scarf.  

·        Design Your Identity:  Design your Identity using ‘Block-Prints’ and showcase the same to your friends with pride!

·        Glass Painting: Unleash your creativity using this ‘Gothic’ art-form and make the most of it.

·        Block Printing on Fabric: Print on ‘Earthy’ fabrics such as muslin, cotton and jute to create eco-friendly bags with delight!

WLCI Reviews Gotham’s New Villain

WLCI feels that Hollywood's creation of 'Gotham City' has had many iconic villains.

Batman in the past had to fight the infamous Joker, the Penguin and the Cat Woman. Adding another feather to these villainous profiles is the new -Fish Mooney played by…well that would be surely a surprise to wait for.

 

Till the release dates of 'Gotham' are finalized, Batman fans will have to endure the wait with patience we guess!

WLCI Reviews World Music Day

June 21st is celebrated as the 'World Music Day' all over the world !

WLCI Feels that our lives would be soul-less and dry without the sound of sweet music filling our hearts minds and soul.

This day was celebrated for the first time in France in 1982 as 'Fete de la Musique', since then, 21st June has been celebrated all over the world as a day to cherish, appreciate and listen to loads of music. Go ahead and participate and celebrate 'World Music Day' in your own way!
